    Small, internal frame pack recommendations

That looks pretty great, too! lolol maybe it's just me that wants a hikelite and I don't have a good reason to get one : )

    Small, internal frame pack recommendations

Have you tried the Osprey Hiklite? The 18L might be just what you are looking for. There is a suspended mesh backpanel with a light wire frame. The belt might not look as substantial as you are thinking, but it would serve well since you are not carrying much weight. Nice range of colors, too!

Seeking input on Granite Gear and REI backpacks, et al.

You might also look online at Decathalon's Quechua MH500 pack. I just used it on a short 2 week Camino and found it to be very comfortable to wear and the features were convenient without being fussy. I pack extremely light and the 30L (2.6#) had all the room I needed. A 40L (2.8#) is also...

    Camino footwear

I agree that visiting a store with competent assistance is part of the process in getting advice about fit and options. Even at the *** flagship store - the product line and sizes were limited and the department was severely understaffed. So it was helpful in eliminating certain choices, but I...

    Camino footwear

So glad you are working on footwear ahead of time. I can't tell you how many times I thought I had figured out the "right" pair of boots - but you can never tell until you put them on. I ordered and returned quite a few pairs of boots over an embarrassing number of months. (checking return...

    Ladies Long Tops

A "cover your bum" style would more likely be something called a tunic. But here is a list that might get you started : ) 1) This is a performance tee in women's tall: https://www.eddiebauer.com/p/23150006/women's-resolution-v-neck-t-shirt?sp=2&size=&color=Htr%20Gray&sizeType=Tall 2) Although...

    Ladies Long Tops

What are you looking for? A quick internet search shows major brands of t-shirts in women's tall. You must have something specific in mind...

Any small but good thermos flasks?

Yeti has a good reputation - and yes, it is a true vacuum bottle. There are more than several choices, but this is what I believe you might be looking for: https://www.yeti.com/en_US/drinkware/rambler-12-oz-bottle/YRAM12.html?dwvar_YRAM12_color=stainless-steel&cgid=drinkware#start=1

    Outerwear

I agree that a (very) lightweight rain jacket* can be an essential layer. Besides shedding rain, it works as a wind break and will warm you when worn over a shirt or fleece. Pick whatever other layer(s) you prefer. Merino tops are my favorite. A good thing to do when trying to decide: Imagine...

Scared of freezing to death on Camino in Fall!

Hi L.J. I would like to recommend hiking pants that I love: North Face Aphrodite 2. Why? They are pull on style with a drawstring waist, fabric is soft and lightweight enough for hot days, but the cut accommodates leggings underneath, handy pockets, AND, oddly enough, the lightly puckered...

This is an interesting idea for saving some ounces and grams.

As a woman with long hair I understand the need for shampoo vs. a general soap BUT why carry all the water that's in your shampoo and conditioner? There are lots shampoo bars out there that would last longer and weigh less. I got the idea to make my own - evaporate my usual conditioning shampoo...

Ryan Air-Checking hiking poles in Santiago

YES! - as of last November '17... Pilgrim House staff assured me that Ryanair would check my poles for free from Santiago (to Madrid) and they were absolutely correct. Easy peasy - go to their customer service desk if it is open and ta da!!! Their website does not take into consideration the...

    Need help with shoe debate

I took a boot and running shoe combo on one of my Caminos expecting that I would mostly wear my shoes based on all the comments like many of the ones above. I actually preferred my boots and ended up purchasing flip flops for the warm fall evenings. It seems there is a huge misconception that...

    Drying clothes while walking

My local dollar store sells these for $1.49. I use these bags for packing instead of the usual nylon packing bags. They naturally squish down in your pack and are QUIET - a great bonus. Of course they don't keep things dry in case of wet weather, but lining the pack with a garbage bag, using a...

    Drying clothes while walking

Also Redfox outdoors has their own line of merino and I got some on a ridiculous sale last fall. I'm with Lucho...lots of my t's and leggings are merino and I just buy when it is on sale. It wears forever so what seems like pricey is really not at all.

Less baggage for second camino Frances? (backpack stories please!)

You have already mastered the art of minimal packing. You're a pro, so if you want a cool new pack for your birthday, go for it - I'm sure you will make a great choice! All things being equal, pick a color you love, lol. Feliz cumpleanos!!!
