I had funny little micro blisters near the edge of my toe nail at around 750km. I think from fritction of the toe nail bed inside the toe (not against the skin if that makes any sense). Not a problem of shoe or sock, and not a problem of long toe nails.

I won’t weigh into treatment, but do check your sock and shoe situation. You want to make sure your sock is not rubbing excessively against your foot. That might happen if your foot is moving around too much in the shoe, your shoe has a worn spot inside that doesn’t allow your sock to move...

One other person brought this up, and I can call confirm that there is a substantial amount of paved surfaces on the Norte. Sometimes there are are alternate routes that may not be paved, but a susbstantial proportion, especially in Cantabria are hard.

From Arzua, I cannot remember many stairs, although there were some uphills and downhills. I think there were a few near Lavacolla. The route was generally either paved or well graded gravel.

Age is definitely not an issue. Lots of people at lots of ability levels at lots of different ages. To walks slowly and deliberately is also to have the time to observe the world around you, which is amazing. The nicest gift I gave myself was slow days with lots of just sitting and looking...
I did not seek medical attention - I wish I had because there were a few simple things I discovered at the end of the walk that were incredibly helpful for reducing pain. I would say a podiatrist or physiotherapist are better options - if it is something that can be mitigated through stretching...
