    Vaseline on feet?

For my Camino is 2017 I had read about Vaseline and I did use it. However, I also used liner socks. Vaseline, liner sock, then hiking sock. Nary a blister. Was it the Vaseline, the liner socks or a combination there of... no idea. I just know it worked for me. Didn't help with the heel...

    Free medical treatment for pilgrims?

I had travel insurance just in case so that was not the problem. My problem was being charged 75 eu up front to have a doctor look at my badly swolen ankle that I could barely walk on, then have her shrug her shoulders with an "I don't have a clue" look. No X-ray or anything... just that shrug...

I probably won’t do this again

Thanks for the info. Will certainly give them a try. The foam ones have never worked so hopefully these will.

I probably won’t do this again

Thanks, I've never used wax ones but will give them a try. Planning to experiment between now and next year. Yes, an older pilgrim and thankfully, thus far have never stepped on anyone :)

I probably won’t do this again

Ok... here is my two cents and a question. In 2017 I walked the Camion from SJPP putting up with rain, freezing temps, snoring, farting, rustling, and all the above "annoyances". I loved sleeping in albergues. I really did. Do I snore? I've never been told I do, but I have another...

Lack of electrolytes – an issue on the Camino?

Thanks Charles... this is good info because what you say about Sorbitol is exactly why I don't use artificial sweeteners. Was not aware of the Tonic Water for cramps. There are times when I get them in my calves in the middle of the night and my first thought is "more bananas" :) Thanks again.

Lack of electrolytes – an issue on the Camino?

Thanks again David... this is really the kind of info I was looking for. More of "what can I expect under certain circumstances" as you state above. I consider myself healthy but the good Lord knows I am not perfect ;)

Lack of electrolytes – an issue on the Camino?

My incident was a isolated one. I believe my BP may have dropped quickly. After going home and resting I was fine, and still am. It's just that the "incident" made a worried friend who knows I'm usually very healthy ask about electrolytes. I thought the question was worth finding answers to...

Lack of electrolytes – an issue on the Camino?

Alaskadiver, your advice is too good to disregard. If I hadn't been interested about this subject I wouldn't have asked the question. It wasn't for medical advice. My physician has already given me a clean bill of health. I just haven't ever taken or needed electrolytes before other than...

Lack of electrolytes – an issue on the Camino?

Thanks so much for your reply. Yes, I don't do sport drinks, soda's like Coke, etc. (sweetened or diet) or fruit juices for the most part. I just don't want the sugar. The incident was a little scary but isolated. I was tired and as you said, there was a lot of getting up and sitting down...

Lack of electrolytes – an issue on the Camino?

I really wasn't asking for medical advice from this forum. Sorry if it appeared that way. I am smart enough to know better. I just noted how electrolytes even became a question for me by a friend's question. Was just curious as to how often electrolytes are taken when they are taken. Guess...

Lack of electrolytes – an issue on the Camino?

Hi Tincatinker, I have noted the dates on the above posts and realize most are old. I "think" I read each and every one because I have just recently had an episode that made someone ask me if I was getting enough electrolytes. I was standing for the Lord's Prayer in church and everything went...

Leg Heat Rash - Golfer's Vasculitis and socks

Wow... very late to this string of comments but oh, so glad I looked. Since I have this problem all the time hiking and especially now with extra training (leaving for Madrid and onward May 31st, 2017), I thought I would give the forum a try. At least I know I'm not alone  I still have...
