Walking through cancer. A thread for inspiration.

Good luck with your biopsy. Something that got me though the uncertainty and fear is feeling the moment. I tell my hospice patients "All anyone has is the moment they are in and that moment is the same for all of us". As I went through chemotherapy and fear I told myself there's nothing...

Where to get a port-a-cath flushed?

A couple of questions. 1. Are you planning more treatment? I had my port removed immediately after I completed chemotherapy. 2. Ask how long the port can go without being flushed. Maybe it's longer than than the standard flushing schedule you are on now. 3. I would get the flushing...

Walking through cancer. A thread for inspiration.

12 years ago I underwent treatment for breast cancer. 4 and 1/2 months of chemotherapy double mastectomies and just when my hair was growing back a follow-up CT scan showed spots in my lungs and my liver. Being a hospice nurse I knew those were the spots that breast cancer can metastasized to...

I used to get black second toes and since I started wearing these no more black toe. I get it because my second toe is bent and the nail bed hits the bottom of my shoe. I probably won’t do this again

You sound very tired and grumpy. Please know that the universe is not out to get you. Buy some good earplugs and consider how you can think kindly and with consiideration towards others when it's difficult. The Camino teaches so many valuable lessons especially not to take everything...

    Injury in Astorga

Update. I am limping along and the bruise extending from my butt to calf is fading but still dark enough for sympathy. The Camino slapped me in the butt to get me to slow down. Even though I was still walking I felt unhappy until today when I met Paul. Paul is a quad being pushed in a...

    Injury in Astorga

LOL my trusty trekking poles let me down. I was looking at another person and fell at an angle. I felt like a tree I went down so fast. I like your advice and the doctor said despite bruising covering my entire back of the left leg I had no muscle damage. So I will live to walk again soon but...

    Toe nails

Thanks for the hint. I received these yesterday and for the first time in years my second toe on each foot didn't hurt after walking 12 miles. I wish I would have known about them sooner because the toes are already black and blue from last week's walk.
