I agree the Via di Francesco is a wonderful route, i walked from Florence to Assisi and then Assisi to Rome. I really enjoyed visiting all the places associated with the life of St Francis, especially La Verna and Assisi of course. I love walking in Italy, I'm sure you will have a great time.
This is a really good idea, there is a train stopping at every place between Genoa and La Spezia. I could have walked each day with a nice little day pack. If only I had thought of it! 🤭
Hello, I am walking from Rome to Santiago ( in stages) and recently walked through this area. I found the hike down into Riomaggiore from Telegrafo very difficult. Many flights of steep tall steps, possibly ok for a man but difficult for my legs. With the backpack on my balance is a bit off and...
There were loads of dogs when I did it too, mostly barking from behind a fence although some did run out and bark at me. I'm scared of dogs so that wasn't fun. Despite this it was a wonderful pilgrimage and one of my favourites.
42 km in one day!! There is no way I could do that, you must be super fit. I had a bit of trouble with accomodation on this section even though I had booked before I left home. The B&B near Poggio San Lorenzo cancelled the evening before but I stayed in another B&B a little further on.
For the...
Thank you for this, it's really interesting. I walked the way of st Francis a few years ago but when I got to Rieti it snowed so heavily I had to just take the train to Rome 2018 (I think). I came back later to finish it off. I don't think you will have that problem! I visited Greccio from...
I completed the Tro Breiz as planned this spring following mostly the route suggested in the Lepere guide.
It was a solitary pilgrimage, which suited me. I did not meet any other pilgrims although local people often stopped and chatted to me . Anyone considering this would be advised to be...
Thanks For you help with this.
I have found the new address on line so am going to write to them. there is a phone number but I find communicating in French on the phone quite a challenge so it will be the last resort!
Thanks NavyBlue, I was wondering whether there would be any other pilgrims. It would be nice if I met one or two on my journey.
Did you have the pilgrim passport?
I have emailed the Tro Breiz association but no reply. I wondered if it is available in the seven cathedrals?. I am starting in Dol...
Thanks AJ, I have been looking at the other book and I can see that route is quite a bit longer but it is useful to look at them both so I can decide on my route.
Hello,
has anyone walked this pilgrimage route in Brittany?
it is a pilgrimage around Brittany visiting the seven towns of the seven founding saints of Brittany.
I am planning to do so this Spring and wondered what other people's experiences of it were.
I am using the Lepere editions guide .
