    Marijuana is legal in all three states of California, Oregon, and Washington. There are some hikers that partake on a regular daily basis. Most hikers I meet only partake in camp at the end of night as an occasional ‘medicinal aid’ for sore muscles and to help with sleep.

    It is a low snow year so far. I plan on buying a bear canister, spikes and ice axe when I get to the Sierra. I also like that I have lots of time to enjoy Trail culture along the way :)

    Thanks! On the American long-distance trails it has been a tradition and part of the the hiker culture. It helps people locate each other and and it is easier to remember than real names. Right now I am hiking with people with names like ‘Squish’, ‘Patch’, and ‘Fireman’. :)
