Been moving slower along the trail then I thought I would - and crossing into Washington state today. The vortex pull of the amazing trail towns and craft breweries was too strong!
I am hearing then Camino calling also... more adventures getting lined up for after finishing the PCT!
Marijuana is legal in all three states of California, Oregon, and Washington. There are some hikers that partake on a regular daily basis. Most hikers I meet only partake in camp at the end of night as an occasional ‘medicinal aid’ for sore muscles and to help with sleep.
I’ve walked over half of the Appalachian Trail so I’ve already had some experience with America thruhikkng. I don’t have any drop boxes right now for the desert portion. I will figure out my Northern Cali, Oregon and Washington boxes as I get closer. I’ll know what kind of food I like best by...
It is a low snow year so far. I plan on buying a bear canister, spikes and ice axe when I get to the Sierra. I also like that I have lots of time to enjoy Trail culture along the way :)

On the American long-distance trails it has been a tradition and part of the the hiker culture. It helps people locate each other and and it is easier to remember than real names. Right now I am hiking with people with names like ‘Squish’, ‘Patch’, and ‘Fireman’. :)
