I walked the Madrid back in May and regret to advise that I struggled to get a daily coffee. The larger towns were OK, but many of the smaller villages were completely shut down. Buen camino

Thanks for that and Yes, I have been following this thread. I have booked the first few nights at Tres Cantos and with #rayyrosa, plus Segovia. I know which town/village I am aiming for each night, so perhaps it will reduce stress levels if I let them know I am coming and would like to stay.

Yep, I am definitely having a rest day in Segovia. It will feel a bit strange after only walking for 4 days, but Segovia looks too amazing just to walk through.
I walked the VdlP back in 2014 and it is my favorite camino so far because of the wide open spaces. I found it quite remote with few pilgrims, but I understand it has become more popular as people try to avoid the crowds. @Magwood also has some great information about a few remoter camino paths...
