Yes, sadly the albergue is closed as we discovered on arrival back near the end of September. We stayed at Hostal Tres Cantos for 50 euros for a double room including breakfast. More than we would normally choose to spend for a night's accommodation while on Camino but it was available with...
Hello Jennysa,
To be honest, I was surprised how easy and pleasant the walk out of Madrid to Tres Cantos was. It did not involve walking through industrial areas as one might expect when leaving a large city. It also allowed us to see more of the various neighbourhoods in Madrid along the way...
Happy to hear that you are now close to the finish line! Yes, the heat has been quite unexpected for this time of year. We have now completed the Madrid route and had our first day on the Invierno today. Keep enjoying yourself! It was nice to meet you along the way.
Albergue was fine, only 5 euros with a kitchen. Full house: 6 pilgrims. In Coca today, enjoyed the walk through the pine forests. Better try to buy a new hat, plenty of sun in the forecast in the coming days.
Thanks for your very helpful comments. Will definitely be useful in the coming days. Just one question: what is the name of the church you referred to when leaving Segovia?
Just wanted to give people the heads up that the municipal albergue in Tres Cantos was closed when we arrived today on 26/09/2019. We were advised by the woman working at the desk at the town hall that it has now been closed for two months. I do not know if the closure is temporary or permanent.
It is our plan to walk the Madrid Camino in 13 days. This will be followed by the Invierno for 10 days and the Ingles from A Coruna for the final 4 days. My husband and I will be walking. Do keep us posted with your plans.
You will likely be ahead of us: we plan to arrive in Madrid on 25 September and begin walking on 26 September. If your time frame changes, feel free to send me a PM. Happy trails!
Hello jungleboy,
Just wanted to let you know how much I have enjoyed reading your posts related to this Camino. Very informative and well-written. I look forward to following in your footsteps starting toward the end of September.
I have plans to walk this exact route followed by the Ingles (starting in A Coruna) beginning at the end of September. I will be watching this thread with interest to note any information shared. Happy planning!
