Walking for a week from Le Puy...how to get to an airport from there

You can catch a ride with La Malle Postale either back to Le Puy en Velay or to another town with a train :)

Average daily expenses on the Le Puy

How exciting! I walked around the same time last year (end of August into October) and found my total expenses for the day were pretty close to what you listed. At first glance the gites seem a bit more expensive, but they're honestly an incredible deal. They generally include demi-pension, so...

Going guideless on the Le Puy?

Woops on the link! It might be more straightforward to just look it up on FB, here's the name: GR65 Via Podiensis : walking the Le Puy route in France

Going guideless on the Le Puy?

How exciting! There are a few apps (Via Podiensis is one through wise pilgrim) that would probably serve your purpose! I found they didn't have every gite listed in MMDD but were decent enough. There is also a FB Group (link here) that has lots of helpful info, but also an incredible...

Posting Luggage in France/Luggage storage service in SJPP?

Hello! I sent myself a package ahead just using the mail service in France in Aug/Sept of 2022. You address it to yourself at the post office you'll be picking it up from and add "poste restante." This can be a bit tricky with timing, as they'll only hold it for 15 days for you after receiving...

I used an e-sim through Orange that worked great through France and Spain, though as biloute mentioned that gives you a French phone number. I was able to download it before leaving home, which was also great for arriving with access to data. For keeping in touch with folks from home via text...

    Your Fave Le Puy Lodgings?

Currently on my walk, my favourites so far: Gite de la Virlange in Le Chazeaux Abbaye St Foye in Conques Ecoasis in Puy Clavel (just outside Grealou) If you want good aligot, Ferme du Barry in Aumont-Aubrac. Without demi-pension but still really good: Lou Fenador in Nasbinals

Orange SIM card on Le Puy camino

Hi Richmond - I've been using an Orange e-sim and it has been great. I lost service briefly in Nasbinals, but so did everyone else :) I've found the data more reliable than wifi, and it has been super helpful being able to text/call with a French number!

    Camping, Money and Walking Intensity

Hi Keegan, I'm on the path right now - just made it to Estaing. :) 1- That is a pretty ambitious/long first day and there are a fair amount of ups and downs (according to the buen camino app, 449m of descent and 675m of gain). There are towns in between where you could potentially stay/call a...
