VN, so you took the Via Verde along the former railway tracks, mainly for cyclists, leading you smoothly to the city. Shortly before Cardeñadijo you can choose a) the Via Verde, no marking needed, 4,4 km, the pink line, b) the Ruta for walkers over the hills, up and down, not too well marked...

When arriving in Peñacoba you will shortly after the pueblo have to cross the BU-V-9216 coming up from Pinarejos/Mamolar. Walkers cross the road and follow the marked camino towards Santo Domingo. The path is sometimes harsh - not at all suitable for cyclists. There are also yellow arrows along...

I found out in 2019 that booking.com offered a night in the Hotel Rivera del Duero for 59€. When I stepped in without a reservation the night was 45€ as noted at the reception desk. The experience: It is sometimes cheaper to phone or to step directly into the hotel than a reservation by a...

I do not remember wether I posted this already: In Gormaz, about 25km from Retortillo, is a quite new albergue de peregrinos. The marked camino towards San Esteban is for El Cid, anyway. Tel. 975 183 473, 8€ https://www.caminodelcid.org/servic...minos-a-santiago-el-cid-gormaz-soria-2241323/...

In Alatoz a grocery shop is just next door to the Bar OVI, and a bar-restaurant - as I found in Sept. 2019.

Hola Doughnut NZ, there is a second albergue visible in the map http://www.villardedomingogarcia.org/elvillar.org/villarsitugo.php . It is just around the corner coming from Bar Goyo. When I was in Villar in 2018 there was no albergue at this place.

LIVE from the Camino A shepherd on the Lana — Part II

Villalbilla is described in Los pueblos deshabitados: Villalbilla (Cuenca) The inhabitants sold their houses and fields to a landowner at the beginning of 20th century. Lack of water for the agriculture and lack of work by mechanization drove them away. That's what a lot of villages suffer(ed)...

Hola AJGuillaume U2, are you actually walking on the ruta?? when I was in Atienza in 2018 the Albergue del Ayuntamiento (acogida no garantizada - Pza. España, 11 949399001 ayto. was too dirty - maybe this has changed meanwhile). So I turned around on my heels and went some 100 metres to Hostal...

The guia of the Asociación de Amigos del Camino de Santiago en Alicante www.encaminodesdealicante.org/otros-caminos/camino-de-la-lana has been last updated 2017. Lots of inaccuracies as I found in 2018 and 2019. Ruta de la Lana = Ruta de la Sorpresa

In 2019 I stayed overnight in Torralba. Ask for the Bar Goyo und Luis, the hospitalero. The albergue was in a former Seniors' home. In comparison with the albergue in Villar de Santo Domingo it was more like a mansion.

Note from the mods: In 2023, I had WhatsApp contact with this casa rural. It is permanently closed and there is no other option in Albendea, according to the owner of the Casa Rural Gabriela. In 2018 and again in 2019 I stayed in Albendea in the Casa rural Gabriela opposite to the...
