Earthquake in Santiago? Yes, it happened earlier today.

Back in 2008, just before 1am we had a local quake of 5.2. I was at work in a chemical plant which had a main structure of just steelwork clad in sheets of questionable 1950s material (think asbestos etc) a couple hundred feet high. When the quake struck the whole building swayed which was...

    Flooding in Santiago

Saw this a couple of weeks ago, the winemaker at the top of the hill did not deny responsibility!

    Flooding in Santiago

In the OPs video and in one of Ivar's pics you can see many businesses have flood barriers. This suggests it is not uncommon as most people/businesses do not have them as standard.

Gordon Ramsey and Gino in Galicia & Santiago

To be balanced, Gordon Ramsay is rated as one of the best chefs in the world so can be classed as "good". He has served his time and worked his way up as all good chefs do, the other two I will not comment on as that would be unfair.

More Police in tourist areas in Santiago to avoid inappropriate behavior of pilgrims

I would think the vast majority of pilgrims breach the rules of Spain. As we know many, if not most like to do the Camino on the cheap but "Currently, the minimum amount of money that you need to prove you have is €100 per person per day (£85), with a minimum of €900 (or its equivalent in...

    Santiago presents for little granddaughters

Sorry, sorry everyone is totally mistaken. I am a dinosaur and we dinosaurs know the ONLY acceptable presents from Spain are either a sombrero or a small straw donkey. This was actually the law in the 70s and I think you will find it still is.

Or walk 100 yards off the Plaza and just relax
