    Memorable Albergues on the Portugues

I certainly ditto everything about Casa Fernanda. Call 1-2-3 days ahead for a reservation, otherwise you may be out of luck. Number 2 on my parade of hit albergues is O Ninho in Rubiaes. Walk past the public albergue a few hundred meters. It’s on the right side of the highway. I made a...

    Albergues around Vila do Conde

Two years ago I stayed at Erva Doce. Very nice. Easy to find - not far from the 'pirate' ship.

    Accommodation near Lisbon Cathedral

I stayed at a couple of hostels in the central area. Nothing in the Baixa-Chiado area is far from the Cathedral. Lisbon Lounge was very good. They had a hot breakfast. Being the end of my month long walk, I remarked to other people at the table that I literally could not remember the last time...

    Porto Accomodation

I can't remember where I stayed in Porto, but I wouldn't recommend it anyway. The first 4 places on my list were full. All things being equal, you should reserve ahead of time to get the place you want. It's difficult to anticipate demand in the city at a particular time.

    New albergue in Alverca?

Looking at Google Maps again, I think it is Verdelha.

    New albergue in Alverca?

There were two (at least) private pensions. The name is not noted in my journal and I can't remember. They must be in Bierley's, otherwise I wouldn't have known about it. Unfortunately I lost my guide book (and my Compostela!!) so I can't look it up. I might recognize the name if I saw it. Wait...

    New albergue in Alverca?

I (and a couple others) walked from the Moscavide Youth Hostel to Alverca (15.24 miles). Toward the end you're walking on a straight road and see the railroad station maybe a half km ahead. Take the crossroad to the left into town 1.3 km off course to find one of a couple of pensions. To get on...

Walking from Lisbon in May 2016

Dobar dan Lj, I was a first time walker and used Bierley's guidebook. Unfortunately, I've lost the guidebook (uuugggg!!!!), so this list might be incomplete. I reviewed my journal for information. The accommodations were satisfactory unless otherwise noted. If no price is mentioned, I couldn't...

Walking from Lisbon in May 2016

Nice catch. Coming into Santerem was a sick day for me. A ride from the Muge Quinta owner got me to Santarem Hostel (Mario) early. I basically vegged out the rest of the day. Still 'recuperating' I needed a shorter day. After walking down the hill from Santarem, I found the train station and...

Walking from Lisbon in May 2016

I walked the CP in May 2015. First Camino. Great weather. Be careful on highways (5 Fatima pilgrims were killed elsewhere by car on my first day. May is the Fatima anniversary, thus very busy there). People complain about cobblestones, but it's not a problem with good hiking boots (IMO). People...
