Best wishes for a wonderful time of service. Will you also walk this year?My wife and I leave for Spain tomorrow. We will be volunteering as hospitaleros at the Albergue de Peregrinos, Emaus in Burgos from 1 to 15 April. The Albergue opens 1 April 2023. This albergue is a parochial hostel exclusive for pilgrims with credentials walking to Santiago de Compostela. It is a great place where pilgrims can find a warm Christian welcome, a communal meal, and a place where they can relax to regain strength, both spiritually and physically to continue the Camino to Santiago de Compostela. A mass is offered every day at 7:30 pm ending with a pilgrims blessing. At 8 pm a communal dinner is served followed by a benediction prior to bedtime.
The albergue is located at Calle San Pedro Cardeña 31. It is collocated in the San Jose Obrero church. The entrance is located at the side of the church. It is well situated just 1 ¼ kilometer from the cathedral. It has 20 beds divided into 4 bedrooms with both men and women bathrooms. Cost for a bed is 10 €. Dinner and breakfast are provided on a donativo basis. For those seeking a greater need for eucharistic worship there is a 24-hour adoration chapel in the building.
Priority is given to walking pilgrims; however, bicyclist pilgrims are welcome and there is locked storage facilities for bicycles.
Internet is available.
Reservations are not accepted.
The albergue is open from 1 April to 31 October. Check-in time is from 1pm to 8 pm.
Please note: The albergue will be closed for Easter from Thursday, 6 April to Sunday, 10 April.
Stop by and see us!

In a way we have in the past but we did have issues. Pick and delivery is not to the albergue but to a hotel across the street. I will double check when we get there and post if it is an issue.Sounds like a wonderful volunteer opportunity.
For the people in my FB group, do you allow pilgrims who use bag transport there?
Yes when we finish with the albergue, starting in Burgos.Best wishes for a wonderful time of service. Will you also walk this year?

Buen camino! The Invierno's so lovely.we will walk from Burgos to Ponferrada on the Frances and then take the Invierno to Santiago.
Emaus is connected to a religious congregation. Monastic Holy Week observances can be very time-consuming and rigorous. Why do they close for Easter?
Annie, yes the Albergue now allows transport services.Sounds like a wonderful volunteer opportunity.

They have Credenciales in the municipal albergue, probably also the cathedral, but I would try to albergue first. Burgos is a big pilgrim city so I don't think getting a Credencial will be a problem.Good morning,
I just sent an email to the Albergue because I had the chance to sleep there in 2019 (on my camino frances) and I have wonderful memories of it!
Unfortunately this year I have less time, so I will leave Burgos (I arrive by train on May 23).
I intended to come from the station first to drop off my bag there, then to go to the Cathedral or elsewhere to get my credentials. Do you think this is possible? or should I order my credentials by post before leaving?
Thank you already and looking forward to seeing you again!
