Walking the Camino, in Ponferrada now. I hope to arrive in Santiago on July 20/21st. Any recommendations for an albergue close to the cathedral. I can’t afford the Parador!

I stayed at Roots and Boots ...less than 10 minutes walk to The Cathedal square. Established albergue , lovely back garden , coffee/breakfast available , loys of interesting pilgrims to talk to . Nice place - worth a look .

Thank you all for your suggestions. I got a bed in Blanco for e20 so looking forward to completing my Camino and being in Santiago

One of the better restaurants in Santiago is just a half-block away!

Don Quijote
