Alberques in March

Hello All!We traveled from St. Jean to Burgos in September and are looking to travel Burgos to Santiago starting March 14th. I am expecting colder and wet weather however I was curious on the availability of the alberques? Are they open as they are in the fall? We took our 8 and 10 year old children and found that if we called the morning of many held a room/bed for us.
Thanks in advance!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
Most pilgrim albergues will start to open mid March and there are usually lists of who is open where within each albergue. Most albergues which are open will have some heat so you might dry clothes near the radiators.

Be sure to search the Forum for references on winter walking.

Weather in mid March can be VERY cold so layers are a must. Snow is definitely possible hence be prepared. The Meseta west of Burgos could be rough since there is a wicked wind from the west as well as crossing the mountains from Ponferrada through El Acebo would be difficult in snow and ice. Galicia should be milder but rainy.

Good luck and Buen Camino,
