Time of past OR future Camino
Some but not all, and other routes too.
Well, it's coming up to a year since I set off for the CF, and it's a year since I walked with the full back pack.
As I'm doing Hadrian's Wall ( nothing by comparison to the CF ) in a couple of weeks I thought I'd better get a couple of back pack walks in. So we both set off on a short 9 mile walk across the Jurassic Coast, it was hot, hilly and dare I say knackering, but we made it in just 3 ½ hours, not bad for a couple in the late part of our 60's.
Were we tied at the end, yes, did we ache a little this morning, yes, will we do it again, yes. I know its a year later but I can't remember being so worn out, maybe it's the heat.
Certainly before we do the CI we will get a lot more train in, although I think the distance is slightly less on the CI than Hadrian's Wall.
So take my advice, don't start the Camino unless you've at least done a little training.

@Waka , from a memory of driving into Beer a few years ago, I recall some gentle hills. And a fainter memory of the more "interesting" parts of Hadrians wall is also of some gentle hills.

The point/suggestion I make is to deliberately include hills in your training, especially with your back pack laden as you expect when "in action".

I don't know the elevation profile of the CI, but a starting suggestion is to work up to 700 metres (2,000) feet of elevation before stopping for breakfast.

Alwyn, thanks for the advice we don't have that sort of elevation along the Jurassic coast, but a few up and downers can soon replicate that. I'm also not sure of the CI elevation but I'm sure it's not as servere as the CF.
We will persevere with one foot in front of the other.
