Bus from Jaca to San Juan Pena Monastery

Time of past OR future Camino
2006 to date: Over 21 Caminos. See signature line
I don't know if this has been posted but there is a bus that leaves from Jaca bus station at 9:30 am and takes you to San Juan Pena Monastery. The 14 euro fare includes your entrance fee to both the new and old monasteries. Both are exquisite. From there you can walk the road to Santa Celia or take the bus back to Jaca. The entrance fee alone is 11 euro

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Thank you for this information, I haven't yet decided what I will do when I reach Jaca.

The journey by bus is about 1/2 hour. The bus returns to Jaca at 7 pm., which means that you'll have to spend all day on the mountain and this may not be your cup of tea.
Worthwhile is visiting the old monastery, which is the first stop of the bus. If you don't return by bus, you can walk from here the steep descent (spread over 4 km) down to Santa Cruz de la Serós. Tough on your legs and dangerous at some places, but with incredible views towards the valley and the Pyrenées.
Not to be done shortly after or during rain. You can also return over the main road to Sta. Cruz. Either walk will take you approx. 2 hours. There is a scenic path from Sta. Cruz to Sta. Cilia, starting immediately at the exit of the village (to the left). If you walked more than 300 mtrs. on the main road you missed the turn off!

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
We did not wait for the bus to return to Jaca.
We simply walked to Sta. Celia.
It was a tough but lovely walk, down the mountain and through fields of poppies.
