xm,thank you for response to my first forum post,it was some of your more recent posts that finally prompted me to come on forum.
In todays world with so much conflict, civil unrest and random acts of violence, the camino brings life back to where it should be.....with random
acts of kindness.
Waking up in the morning on the camino knowing that 99.9% of the
people you're going to encounter that day are going to be amicable.......
lift on with a backpavk.....share an orange....replacement for a broken
bootlace....share some info on the coming days trek.....things that cost
little but mean a lot....
And the point one per cent ,could be as mean as an ancient shopkeeper
in a more ancient Galician village that was not happy with your pronunciation of "mantequilla"!!
I don't mean to cop-out on the troubles of the world today, but some-
times the best,(or only),way to help is to just try to encourage a more
peaceful lifestyle by deed......Peace by Pilgrimage....Les

Very nice said. That crossed my mind too.

One of the reasons to do it...

Hi Les,

I appreciate your words.

You talked about so many well said, deep-seated, truths, all of which I concur with, that there's no possible reply to your post :!:

Let me just share this:

there's a Spanish language video on the Camino that's called "El Camino: no un camino de rosas" ("The Camino, not a road full of roses").

I don't know if there's an English language version of it, I'll find out.

It consists of pilgrim interviews, people talking about why they did the Camino, their experiences, and more.

In the video's second interview, pilgrim Manuel Sanz Gutierrez, says something to the effect that when he wants to wish someone something good, he tells them:

"Que te espere una vida que sea un eterno Camino de Santiago.”

" May your life be an eternal Camino de Santiago.”

That is my wish for you.

Best,

The DVD has English sub-titles.
The interview with the Brazilian woman, Lady Foppa, is the poet who wrote the memorable poem, "And now, John" when the Pope died last year. She is also a celebrated photographer who won an international award last year for her photograph of lightning over the Cruz de Fero.
