Thanks for sharing. I definitely agree with the recommendation to wear wicking underwear and t-shirts. This definitely did the trick for me. Cotton is the enemy!

As for topical treatment... to prevent it, reduce contact friction. Lubricants help. Vaseline is popular.

If it has already occurred. Go to a farmacia and tell them “mi Iritan ’ and point to the body part affected. You need the sort of zinc oxide based ointment that mothers use on baby butts...seriously. Works great!

Hope this helps.

If it is cold, I lean toward Gold Bond or baby powder. In warmer times, Vaseline, definitely. Neveer had tr=ouble with polyester shirts and undies, (but stay away from, "Blends"). They wick, they do not chafe and they wash and dry quickly, and do not have to be expensive.

A long time ago, when I did a lot of recreational running, I had a miniature tube of Vaseline that I carried in a small pocket on my shorts. But it was messy and oily and would stain my shorts. It worked, though. A lot of modern and good lubricants, like Body Glide, have been able to do the same job, but aren't messy or create stains like Vaseline. There were a couple of types mentioned in the article. They are a bit more spendy, though.

For those who have no problem with vaseline staining, it is still a good choice for effectiveness; I can attest to that

Zinc oxide after the day is done, and showers have been taken, is terrific stuff.
