Cuidad Rodrigo

We are on our annual half term holiday and driving south for a little more early spring sunshine. We drove through a misty Burgos this morning and were spending the night in Cuidad Rodrigo before heading off to Lisbon tomorrow.

Walking around the town we spotted camino references but I don't know which one. This is a fascinating little town and feels very much like so many towns along the Via de le Plata... I wondered if anyone can provide a little more history?
