Can I ask advice about the size of Day Packs?

I just bought a Gregory 12 Litre Day Pack. I am doing ghe Camino Frances with a torn disc in my back, so I figured if my pack caused me pain, I could ship it ahead some of the time and use a day pack. The clerk at Sail assisted me and we found this one to fit and be comfortable. I am wonderinfg if it is too big?

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I recently walked in Italy for ten days with my main luggage transported, so I only carried a day pack. My daypack was bought on special, and was reasonably light, though perhaps not as light as you will need.. The thing that attracted me to it was that it had places where I could attach my walking poles when I wasn't using them- and there were certainly rugged parts of the route where I did use them. Sorry, this post might not be much help to you, as I was in a situation where I knew I would only ever be carrying my day pack- but if you intend carrying poles, some way to attach them might be useful.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

What are you putting in it?

12 litres is already in the small part of the shop . The 5 litre etc ones are basically little more then a place to put your car keys and wallet.

I'd suggest packing it with what you intend to carry for the day and seeing. But I doubt you'd gain anything going smaller.

Thank you! My first 2 days I plan to use it. I am staying at Orisson and then walking to Roncesvalles. I plan on sending my pack ahead to Roncesvalles. My plan now is to ship it ahead for the 1st week until I get used to the walking and allow my back some time to adjust before I begin to carry it all.

I will have my 2litre water bladder, some first aid stuff, soap, razors, blister stuff, sleeping bag liner, phone and personal items will be on me. A chnage of clothes as well.

I am laughing now because after I carry all that, what's left? LOL

Funny, need not wait for the Camino or the forum to provide, when the answer comes just from typing.
