Time of past OR future Camino
June 2024
I am very excited to be here and am in the process of planning our first Camino. Since I only have a limited amount of vacation time my husband and I only have time to do 100km (or about 9 days). Starting our trek on June 7th and depart for home on June 13. We planned on starting in Tui (Portuguese route) however was considering starting in Baiona, ESP for a little coastal scenery. Has anyone started in Baiona? In the research I have been doing, it looks like the camino route from Baiona to Vigo is beautiful and a nice walk a opposed to the more industrial walk from Tui to Porrino.
Suggestions and recommendations are welcome. Thank you and we are super excited!!!

Start in Baiona...I passed through on my way from Porto...Baiona is a lovely spot...give yourself a couple of evenings there before you start...buen camino

You are correct noting that the 'principal' route into Porrino has a long section through an industrial area. However, that can be easily avoided by taking a rather bucolic complementary route along the Rio Louro. That is much more pleasant. I would also recommend the complementary route into Pontevedra along the Rio dos Gafos in the following stage.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

I think that you will find that most people don't use a tour company. If you are interested in a tour company I suggest that you start a new thread with that question.

I have no experience with tour companies. I have never found that I needed their assistance, although there are many people who, for a variety of reasons, will. My view is that most people would be able to organize themselves to get accommodation booked for the first few days, get to a start point, organize pack transport if they wish, and start walking. There is plenty of help here on this forum, from local pilgrim associations, perhaps social media, etc should you want to do that.
