Ouch, @Robo . Ok, I thought it, as well as "this ship sailed years ago", but maybe it's not about the viewers' needs but the needs of those making the documentary?Do we really need another one ?
How will this one be different?

I agree... one look at YouTube, for example, and the choices for viewing are breathlessly vast. The other aspect is the further publicity for the Camino Frances and the impact of further crowding. Just a consideration. I certainly would choose to not participate in a broadcast documentary, simply because the most central and personal "why" of my pilgrimage is between me and God. The other aspects of "why" I am doing the pilgrimage, are for those whom I befriend or who befriend me
I think it has already gone commercial. I am not sure when, maybe someone here can provide the information, but there is a Camino Race planned for this year. I do not know who is behind it but I signed a petition to stop it a month or two ago. Commercialization of any of the Camino Paths is just wrong, very wrong.
The Camino is going to continue to evolve into a more commercial endeavor. No one will be able stop it. Good? Bad?Do we really need another one ?

Bad. Which is why albergues need to ask for more than a few €, and I don't mean money only. The Camino is going to continue to evolve into a more commercial endeavor. No one will be able stop it. Good? Bad?

I disagree with nothing you say. I'll leave the opinions as to what is best for the Camino to those who know more than I do.Bad. Which is why albergues need to ask for more than a few €, and I don't mean money only.
Which is why credenciales should not be handed over just for a couple of €. Love how the Salvador crendecial says ot can be revoked for not behaving well in albergues.
Love Buthan's idea of limiting visas so that its culture doesn't go down the drain for a few $.
Problem is that as we publicaly walk other C. (This forum, guides, etc) more peiple will see the golden goose coming their way (hello Galisteo! and the run by the Invierno). As we complain about having to pau for penison rates amd not albergue rates, someome will "come up and meet our needs". Ruining it all. So a balance needs to be stuck.I disagree with nothing you say. My point was the train is coming down the track & my opinion is none of us have a say in it other than walking a less traveled route to Santiago.
A noble idea but too subjective to work in practice.Problem is that as we publicaly walk other C. How? With $ or intention? I like the idea of having to price intention, as in the good old days. Apply to your local priest, prove your volunteer communtiy work, something.
Well, fist things first ... it ain't the "Francis" but the " Frances".A noble idea but too subjective to work in practice.
Also I can't see the other routes becoming crowded anytime soon.
99% of the folks watching the documentaries, reading the books & blogs and have seen the movies want to walk the Francis. No?
Quite agree. Its busy enough. And as you say what on earth would it add?Do we really need another one ?

Are you finishing the Via Della Plata? I would love to hear your views.I am on the Camino Frances. I am between Sarria and Santiago. I am not walking. I am catching buses and taxis. I am having my pack carried. Yesterday I had deep and personal conversations with three people, all of whom were moved to tears, and for whom the Camino is life changing. They would not be here but for the infrastructure and having heard about the Camino. Who are we to judge what is good? We try to implement by our decisions and actions what appears to be best, but at the end of the day we only have control over ourselves. Until each of us is all knowing and with perfect judgment, I think that is a good thing. I've never yet come across a human dictator I would be happy to have choose my path.
Exactly. I'll be in Spain 6 weeks this summer but only have time to walk Leon to Santiago. I hope to walk the whole Frances in a few years but plan on walking the Ingles way next year before that gets too popular lolYes, you are right of course. And hey there isn't just the Frances route...
Sadly, many towns on the Camino do not have the luxury of Bhutan's positionBad. Which is why albergues need to ask for more than a few €, and I don't mean money only.

Hi Mick,My Camino is special as I am escorting the Roll of Honour Afghanistan from the Australian War Memorial and laying 41 poppies on the shores of Fisterre to remember the 41 young Australians who died in the war against terror.
This is a picture of Adam Scott laying the poppies for me at the completion of the final round of the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass Florida on my way to Spain.
I'm writing on behalf of documentary-makers travelling along the Camino de Santiago/St James' Way in northern Spain throughout the month of June this year (2017). We are looking for good stories as to why you are walking the Camino and what it means to you. Please get in touch if you'd be interested to meet us and share your stories.
