Can't walk the Caminho but I can certainly look at my old photo (yes) albums. First time years ago in Porto needing to refuel when I found Café Santiago not far from the cathedral and their delightful version of francesinha. Came back the next day couldn't remember exactly where it was and I found another Café Santiago where they told me there is even a third Café Santiago not far away! Heartily recommended but come hungry! For the uninitiated wet-cured ham, linguiça, fresh sausage like chipolata, steak or roast meat, and covered with melted cheese with or without a fried egg and a hot and thick spiced tomato and beer sauce :

Where's the vegetarian version?

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I believe I had about the same "artery plugger" as you, @Scruffy, when I walked in Portugal last year.

Where's the vegetarian version?
Believe it or not we had an alleged vegetarian version in a restaurant on the CP. It involved a lot of sauteed mushrooms and I say alleged because I really suspect there was some meat in there somewhere. I was sufficiently hungry that I didn't have an appetite (hehe) to go too far in my analysis! It was delicious by the way but perhaps a "once in a lifetime" experience! And yes, there were fries!
