I think they mistitled the article, however, because it mostly talks about eating on a budget and honestly I think it should be noted that this article is all about eating great/healthy foods and they also happen to be very budget friendly ideas.

I know there are pilgrams meals for dinner and breakfast, but french fries seem to be the universal food on the Camino.

Might be a good alternative, outside of the smallest villages, to heed some of this advice and shop at local markets. When my wife and I travel we take advantage of many of these tid-bits, and also tend to seek out small local establishments for meals.

Its a good read for anyone who is not a well seasoned traveller in foreign lands, enjoy:

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Eating 'cheap' is often misleading, but eating 'economically' is fairly easy. Yes, buying food in local shops and markets works well. Another thing that we learnt quickly is that you cannot share either the pilgrims menu or the menu del dia. However you can share the platos combinados. Some places will even give you a second plate as well as a spare knife and fork. We often found that one main course and a side salad/starter made a good meal to share, so long as we made clear that we wanted them serving at the same time. It also meant that we only had one portion of chips between us. Note that you then pay for your bread and water, but I often skip the bread and say so when ordering, otherwise it will be charged.
