Feature Film: Al Final Del Camino

Dear All,

I was curious to know, does anyone have an opinion about this movie, Al Final Del Camino? I caught some of it on television, during my travels last year, but without subtitles and my Spanish muy basico I could only guess. It seemed to be a rom-com, a group led by some kind of guru, inspirational group t-shirts, bedhopping, etc. It also looked liked a walk in the park, no heavy backpacks, little sense of strain, little engagement with the camino itself - except within the parameters of popular 'self-help' - but as I say I could be entirely wrong, that's just the impression I got from the images.

Is it one you would recommend? Light relief?

Thanks, buen camino.

P.S. Please don't mention The Way.
P.P.S. Please do mention Saint Jacques...La Mecque.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
A heavily sarcastic, but somewhat accurate portrayal of a certain Spanish attitude towards the Camino.

Didn't understand everything myself, but I won't subject myself to a second viewing to "get" more of it.

The more metaphoric plot structure seems better than the more superficial storyline, insofar as it portrays as much failure on the Camino as success.

Looks rather silly and uninteresting. Six days on the Camino? Not a whole lot of time to really mix it up too much romance wise. I mean the first day and the last day you are too busy, so that leaves four days in the middle. Doable I suppose, but I think at least two weeks would be a more reasonable time frame for that, ha ha.

Muchas gracias Pelegrín! I'm currently trying to improve my Spanish by watching Spanish-language films on YouTube and it's a pretty variable selection. This is a great and welcome addition. Many thanks for sharing

On the first part too many battles and very few things about the Camino.. Fortunately I didn´t see any eucaliptus

Creo que será más del Camino más tarde...espero! Mientras es buen práctica para mi Español .
I think they'll be more about the Camino later...I hope! Meanwhile it's good practice for my Spanish

...'habrá'...still learning! ;-)

Following a film in the original language is not easy for a language learner. Fortunately, on this series they speak with a normative Castilian accent that would be easier for you. Only the Muslims speak with an strange accent (not Arabic IMO) Nevertheless in my case I miss the Galician accent.
I wish at least we could see on next episodes one pilgrim talking about his Medieval experiences.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Indeed! I'll continue watching with interest...
