LIVE from the Camino Great evening in Ages

Time of past OR future Camino
St.Jean-Santiago (2017)
just wanted to crow about the good that can come on the Camino. Ages isn't a big town so the peregrinos from the 3 alburgues tended to migrate from one outdoor dinner to another, sitting down, sharing a glass of wine or beer and a war story and then moving on to the next. Sort of a movable feast Camino style. Not sure all the right glasses got returned to all the right cafes but the numbers probably worked out in the end.
Just a few of the people I met included: an interesting couple of retired men in search for a mythical "Isabelle", a riotous tax accountant (I know that seems like a contradiction in terms) and his sensible wife from Toronto, a darling language translator from Czech Republic that currently lives in France, and a mysterious women whose origin I did not catch but who generously bought another bottle of vino tinto.

We talked and laughed until minutes before the 10:00pm lock down and then we all scampered back to our beds.

A special shoutout to the hospitaleros of the el Pajar for tolerating our ruckus and even bringing out extra desserts.

The real Camino is there waiting for you if you are in the right state of mind.

Buen Camino!

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
And in the morning there is the wonderful cafe/shop run by a woman (and her husband) who has walked the Camino and is very committed to serving pilgrims good food and coffee. Forgotten the name but everyone will know and the empanadas were superb. Buy an extra one to eat on the way to Burgos.

Totally agree that El Pajara hospital euros are great. Stayed there in March, they were lovely and so enthusiastic about the history of the area
