I am looking for an old remedy to add friction to the skin of the heel.
An old climbers trick is to put an ointment of gum arabic in a solvent to add to the sound heelbone before any rub has occured.
I have met this remedy many yrs ago when I lived in Scotland.
By adding, it leaves a slighty rubberized skin that will not allow any slippage between the sock and heel.
Does anyone know the trade name of this product or how to make this concoction...?

I bought hiking shoes that were intentionally 1/2 size too big as I knew my feet would swell when I hiked. But when I first put the shoes on, they ARE big & I slide around in them on the off camber trails. To remedy this I bought:
Tulip 6-Pack Slick 3D Fashion Paints, Multi from Amazon.
What this is, is fabric paint. I put it all over my insoles let it dry (1 day). This makes the insoles like those "non-slip" socks people wear around the house.

I don't slip around in the shoes anymore & it works great. HTH
