Hostel Bayonne

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
Looking for recommendation for a good Hostel in Bayonne?
We stayed in Okko Hotel, just on the edge of town. The price included breakfast, but also 'free' evening tapas like snacks as well as a free drink. It was a comfortable stay after travelling all day, starting at the crack of dawn, from the UK.

I thought, there is meant to be a proper pilgrim's hostel due to open in Bayonne very soon but I can't find any details of it but Beiliari have some recommendations: https://www.beilari.info/en/node/132

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
Not sure about hostels. Hotels I have stayed at include Cote Basque which is nice, open late and really easy for the railway station (very used to pilgrims). Hotel Le Port Neuf is more in the centre, odd place but clean, wonderful creaky old stairs, Hôtel Le Bayonne is modern but a walk from the centre/trains but sometimes has v cheap offers. Hotel ibis Bayonne Centre is a modern Ibis bit tucked away, easy enough for trains but away from the town centre. If you go for a hotel I would look carefully at check-in times before you book, some of the hotels have very limited check-in hours.

For an interesting albergue experience try the mini albergue of Veronique Miramon in Bayonne, almost next to the cathedral. veronique.miramon@sfr.fr is her email. She speaks French and English (and perhaps more). I had a special time there, she is an eccentric, but caring woman, I loved my stay with her.

I had also stayed there in September for two days this year. Veronique can also show you if you like how to walk to Biarritz, or even to Irun or SJPdP. Her location is right in old town and the cathedral. Enjoy!

We (Baztan 4) stayed with Veronique in 2018.
Interesting experience.
We booked ahead and were told there were 4 beds waiting for us. On arrival another pilgrim had arrived before us, the 4 beds had to be stretched to 5, my niece drew the short straw and slept on a mattress on the crowded floor.
Yes Veronique is a lovely lady and her breakfast was to die for.

A forum tip for anyone interested: if you go to that thread and click on #14 in the top right corner of the post, it will take you to a link directly to that post, not just to that thread. Then you can give that URL instead.

While I'm here, embedding the link within your text as above makes it more readable and less jarring to the reader than pasting an entire URL. To do that, highlight the text you want to use as the link and click the chain icon in the tool bar above the text box, and then paste your URL there.

In the eternal words of t2andreo, hope this helps.
