Last night I checked air prices from Santiago to Madrid. Not much competition there yet!

Ryanair is between 6 euro and 49 euro - depending on which days you fly.
Iberia - 126 euro (Cheaper flights only if you stay a min of 3 nights)
Spanair - 64 euro

Hi, Sil, looks like Iberia is selective about which routes it wants to compete in. I was just looking for fares between Santiago and Barcelona this spring, and there are a lot of days where Iberia offers flights for 58E. That must be in response to competition from somewhere, no? Well, whoever can figure out how airlines set their prices will be in line for the next Nobel in economics, I think. Laurie
