Time of past OR future Camino
Porto to Santiago de Compostela June 2018
We are touristas now exploring by car the Dorro valley including Lamega (fabulous steps to cathedral) and Pinhoa (meh tourist wine town). I was pleasantly surprised to see and follow for a little way Camino signage. I believe this to be the interior route? I didn’t see any pilgrims but possibly some on bikes in Pinhoa. We start our central route in two weeks. For now exploring this country on our own.

Pinhao is not on the camino Portoguese, nor any other camino.
 
So now I am really confused again. We are in Vila Velha de Rodao which is just south of Castelo Branco. On a walk to a park and river walk we saw this sign. Is it just another way to describe a walking path or is it part of another Camino to Santiago de Compostella?

Hi, the Portuguese Interior Route starts in Viseu and goes via Almargem, Ribolhos, Lamego, Peso do Regua (on the Douro River), Bertelo, Vila Real, Parada de Aguiar, Vidago, Chaves, and then across the Spanish border to Verin. Hope that helps!

So, after some google research I could find a few informations...

Regarding Pinhão: it is included on the variante Coração do Douro - Caminho Português Interior.

Regarding Vila Velha de Rodão: is part of the new Via Portugal Nascente.
Right now it goes from Évora to Trancoso but when it is finished it will go from Tavira to Trancoso (and in Trancoso connects with Camino Torres).

I found info on this route in April or May this year, at the time I'd been looking for info on Portuges Interior from Viseu. I walked Interior from Viseu to Chaves, then to Verin that leads to Camino Sanabres leading to Santiago. Loved this part of Portugal! Thinking of walking the Nascente way in the nearest future. Wonder if they have marked it all the way from Evora by now and if it's possible to walk it already. As far as I know they have marked several stages from Tavira already but who knows when they join it in Evera. Would be great to walk the whole way from the South.
