If you are starting in St Jean about now, or closer to Santiago a little later, you will be treated to the special and ephemeral springtime show of almond and cherry flowers.

Well worth the journey! And if you get that far then do take the time to visit the giant Buddha in Nara. Wonderful place and an impressive sight.
