Many veterans of the Camino would be familiar with this extraordinary piece of choral music. I was not until this past week. Let me explain.

I live near the small town of Elora, Ontario, Canada, which is also the home of the world renowned Elora Singers, a Grammy award winning choir. I discovered that their inaugural 2018-2019 season performance would be this amazing piece of a cappela choral music, which, over the course of an hour, captures the experience of walking the Camino Frances. It was performed this past Sunday. Sung in 4 movements, Roncesvalles, Burgos, Leon and Santiago, the listener hears the story of St James and the present day Camino, through word and song. The text is in English, Spanish, Latin and other languages. It was a wonderful performance that brought back many emotions of walking in 2016.

Here is a review of the premier performance in 2005 in England.

The Wikipedia page description is also worth a read.

If you have an iTunes account, you can hear snippets of the 4 movements from a recording that is also available for purchase. There are other recordings that can be purchased as well.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Thank you SO much for posting this gorgeous music and bringing it to my attention. I listened to "Leon" and immediately was transported to the Catedral experiencing those incredible stained glass windows that make it such a special place for me. If I can't be back in Spain walking, I will be listening to the music that transports me there. Ultreia!
