Further to the edict of March 2012 by the Central Camino Authorities, weight restrictions on the Camino Frances will now be rigorously enforced.
Due to extreme erosion on parts of the camino, the weight of pilgrim plus pack will be assessed at frequent checkpoints - any excess above 75 kilogrammes will be charged at the rate of 1 euro per kilogramme. Pilgrims will have to pay the surcharge once only, and will be issued with a certificate, allowing them to complete their camino without further expense. The monies raised will be used to restore and improve the path.
(Note: the original plan was to weigh rucsacs, and charge extra for any excess over 5 kilos. However, pilgrim pressure on this forum persuaded the Authorities to factor in the weight of the walker, plus pack weight)
These measures will come in to force on April 1st 2014.
BY ORDER.
Is this a joke?
There's an additional tax for walking naked!LOL, I will be walking naked next time, with NO pack, and I will still have to pay
...which would be legal in Spain; they have laws against lewdness around children and incompetents, but court rulings have found that there is no law against nudity. There's an additional tax for walking naked!
Hope it doesn't become a trend on the Camino!...which would be legal in Spain; they have laws against lewdness around children and incompetents, but court rulings have found that there is no law against nudity.
The 7th World Naked Bike Ride Day was celebrated in Madrid. Dedicated cyclists left the Plaza Cibeles for a ride around the city. Cyclists braved the rain to protest against the discrimination they experience from car drivers. Madrid, Spain. 12/06/2010
Now I know what Ltfit meant when she said she was sending our buffs naked, she's in training!!!!!!LOL, I will be walking naked next time, with NO pack, and I will still have to pay
I'll need to redo my packing list!
Out goes my 12 x cans of lager, my 4 x litre boxes of wine as well as my emergency bottle of malt whisky!
No! Not the whisky for goodness sake.
Buffs are for those 'in the buff' gerard, unless you can pick one up somewhere like behind a bush maybe!!!I'm not walking anywhere naked.

Make sure you don't rustle it, John!On the treadmill now, wearing a plastic bin bag. Already saved 1 euro. Haircut next, that should save a few cents.
It's clear to see that your G&T-less days aren't having a negative effect on your sense of humour pilgrim b! Is vodka and tonic proving to be an adequate substitute?!Can you buy G&T's on route John? I think you should be fine buying your Whisky on route!!!
My brother, while living in Chicago, was asked by Americans what was our national drink, and he replied: "Anything with alcohol in it!" like yoghurt and upwards... So vodka tonic, GT, whatever... But I prefer a cold beer in the heat of the day, and a glass or three of red for supper. And then a long night. Yesterday i purchased earplugs and and eye blinds: Will keep me away from those bad noises and flashlights 4.00 in the mornings. Is vodka and tonic proving to be an adequate substitute?!
See earlier post on similar topic.I'm planning on bringing 50 balloons filed with helium . . .
ALEX! Do I conclude my fair Lady of the Southern Isle: that you thought my sense of humour ran on a continuous daily supply of alcoholor is this an indirect probing to see if I am being successful in my abstinence?
Which ever it may be JennieH94 we are way off thread here this one is about 'weight restrictions' on the Camino so my success or failure with 'alcohol restriction' will remain a secret
Alex - I love it! Convenience plus, AND it's discreet! My proposed metal flask does make it a tad obvious to passing pilgrims that you might be just a little too fond of the nectar of the (Scottish) Gods!Jenny, your proposed metal flask is WAY to heavy! Here is a much more convenient lightweight device, from which you can drink even without stopping: Just tuck it to your pack and off you go (hopefully straight forward):

(JOKE) I think , after a couple years of reading this site, and every "Camino" book out there, the combined input = the proper pilgrim outfit would find one walking naked, except for a poncho, walking sticks, and good shoes, and by golly they'd better be the "right kind" of shoes!Jenny, your proposed metal flask is WAY to heavy! If the cap fits, wear it!!!!....just joking here......This appears to be targeted at us fat guys from the US!!!
I am going to send a complaint letter as soon as I finish my double cheeseburger and supersized fries!!!!
LOL!!
Oh dear pilgrim b! Of course I assumed your witty posts were helped along "in spirit" by a sip or two of that delicious colourless liquid known as Gin! As you have probably guessed by now, I don't "do" subtle, indirect probing - it's not the Aussie way - and yes, all of us who have been following David's Lent thread would like to know if you are sticking to your Lenten resolve!
In an effort to get this thread back "on topic", I am posting a pic of a most useful lightweight item which, as you will see, is easily accessible when required ...
Instructions for use: fill with several wee drams, clip to backpack and you're "good to go"!
Cheers! Jenny
PS - I am proud to report that not one alcoholic drop has passed my lips since Pancake Day ...!!!

Ha ha! Great idea pilgrim b! If Travellingman or David don't take up your most excellent suggestion, why not open the thread yourself? BTW - is there a reason why you're not spilling the beans re your Lenten resolve?Considering your inquisitive bias Jennie and the fact that there is only 17 days gone and another 23days to go. Might I make a humble suggestion Travellingman or David: and that is that you consider opening another post with the title of " The Confessions of a Lenten Pilgrim! .Who knows it might be an even greater success than this one.
Well your truly hooked, and my beauty sleep awaits me and I dislike beans especially LentilsHa ha! Great idea pilgrim b!
