Time of past OR future Camino
Twice walked from St Jean to Estella and once from Sarria to Santiago. Maybe someday I'll find the time to do the entire walk.
I've found the time. Just completed SJPP to Santiago. 25 Aug to 1st Oct, 2016.
And now the Portuguese from Lisbon.
The footbridge which takes you across the busy motorway after the traffic roundabout as you approach Leon was closed today. There's a well signposted alternative which takes you up a hill until you come to a building with two telecommunication masts. You turn left and follow the trail downhill towards the city. It saves quite a bit of pavement walking through dreary suburbs.
If I was ever to walk the Frances again, and i hope I will, this is the route into the city that I'd take.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

It was closed in the first week of May when I got to it as well. So appears to be more than just a casual closing. I didn't mind the detour though, some road walking and a trip through a field to reach the road into Leon.

Funny, but most folks complained of the detour! Your reasoning that it was better since it saved walking in pavement is truly being a wise pilgrim! Buen Camino!

The detour requires a walk up a hill on pavement. There are many beautiful, new apartments that have been built but not finished. The projects are abandoned, must have run out of money due to the economy...very sad. The downhill side is a beautiful walk through nature into Leon. A much better way to enter the city.
