I'm working on updates to the online CSJ guide on the Lisbon-Porto section of the Caminho Portugues. I wrote the guide in 2009, have had updates periodically (the CSJ posts a few revision pages also), and am now in the process of rewriting the guide to reflect all the many changes.
I haven't walked this section since 2009, so I really could use help from others who have walked it recently. If you would be willing to take a look at the revisions I have, let me know and I can send you a word attachment of the revised draft.
I know there are several forum members who have walked from Lisbon recently, and if you have some time, this would be a big help! Thanks, Laurie
Hi Laurie! Dad and I got back last week so we're just consolodating our notes and will have them to you asap
Thanks, Heather. I greatly appreciate whayever scribbles you have -- every little bit helps. No rush, because I don't think I'll get to this till after the holidays. I'm glad to see you are encouraging people to walk from Lisbon. That must mean that despite its negatives, the overall was a positive for you. How long do you think you'll last before you start planning the next Camino? Thanks again, Laurie
Hi Kat,Hi Laurie,
I'm due to start from Santarem this Tuesday! Unfortunately because of time contraints I'm catching the train from Lisbon to Santarem, but will give you updates from there to Porto for sure and anything I can offer on Lisbon itself. Can you please PM me and I'll send you my email address, I'm walking with my Dad so you'll get two perspectives
Kat
Just follow the yellow waymarkers.Hi Kat,
I'm Starting from Santarem this Monday just for a week, any tips about the way? Did you do long stages of 30km per day ? Would you recommend places to stay? Would appreciate any help, it's my first try.
Best regards,
Irina
Thanks Albertinho,Just follow the yellow waymarkers.
On the Lisbon to Porto leg almost all distances are about 30 kms due to lack of places to stay in between. Earlier 2 or 3 days ago Amorfati and I (Albertinho) resumed all the places on the caminho we stayed
This is the thread.
Places I stayed May 2 - 28, 2014 on Caminho Portuguese - (w/ images part I)
We did not like the 30 kms distances
we skipped one day walk from Alverca do Ribatejo to Azambuja due to walking mostly all day along a busy road so took the train. But you are beyond that daywalk when you start in Santarèm. Sometimes we took the train or bus for 10 kms to reach in about 20 kms the next place to sleep. On the se ond leg from Porto to Santiago there is more oportunity to find a place to sleep within 20 km
Bom caminho
We did not. Sometimes we phoned in the morning that we arrived in the afternoon. Thanks Albertinho,
Its nice thread with good info about accommodations, recorded that. Is there need to prebook accommodations?
