Thinking of doing this from South to North , is this a reverse route ? The signage on some of the others ( Norte and Plata ) would be problematic if doing it against the flow. It just would work better for me in terms of transport to the start and finish. Thanks.

Thank you Anna and Michael for your blog. We are planning to do the Via Francigena Sicily next year. We have the Davide Communale guide book. Can you advise if there is accommodation on the way to do 10, 12, 15 km a day? Do you know where we can get information on the Via Mazarense which goes along the coast of Sicily from Agrimento back to Palermo. Thanks.

To be honest, while the signage is good, we couldn't be sure how it would be going south to north. However, if you have the guidebook and use their GPS tracks, it shouldn't be a problem. We highly recommend allowing some time in Palermo and Agrigento. Big apologies for the delayed response.

The distances between accommodation will vary, it's mainly in the villages although there are some agriturismo places between villages. If your guidebook doesn't provide enough detail, it's worth considering getting a copy of the Terre di Mezzo book which has the latest accommodation information. Also, the Amici della Magna Via Francigena has a load of information on their website (including on the Via Mazarense) and they are very helpful.
