Montreal-based Jenna Smith writes of her experience trekking the Camino de Santiago in her first, memorable book, A Way: The Story of a Long Walk. The story arcs from southern France across the Pyrennees and northern Spain to her pilgrimage destination of Santiago de Compostela, the site of the interred remains of the apostle James. For over 1,600 kilometres (she starts in Le Puy-en-Velay and ends in Santiago), Jenna walks with her husband Nic discovering the beauty of culture, a reoriented perspective on stress and busyness, and the face of God in her fellow travellers. Jenna writes with a deft pen, and I burst out laughing at her acerbic sense of humour. This book is a great read for anyone contemplating the Camino de Santiago, and there is a surprise ending to Jenna's arduous journey.

Thanks Mark, for the head-sup about Jenna's book. I'm looking forward to getting a copy and reading it - partly because I'm also a Montreal native, currently writing a memoir of my own (about my journey on the Camino last fall). I hope she enjoys the fruits of her Camino and the writing process!

I too ordered and read Jenna's book on Mark's recommendation, and I too loved every single page. It is a wonderful account of the journey, both outward and inward, told with great humor and insight. I have read many Camino books, but this one is special. I made a comment related to the book in another thread

Food for thought on the Meseta!

Thank you Jayree for letting me know you enjoyed the book so much! I've forwarded your comment to Jenna. As a first-time author, she is so encouraged with this feedback.

Hi everyone,
It was about time I joined this forum! I am so glad you enjoyed this little book of mine. Thanks for reading it. Here is a web site to accompany the book- a few pictures here and there, and in a few days I will be posting about Rochegude, a chapel in France that I didn't write about in the book (at some point, you just have to make some edits!)
Cheers to you all,
Jenna

Hi, Jenna,
Thanks for posting here.
I have just found the kindle version of your book in Amazon. I will start reading shortly.
By the way, which website are you referring to?
Cheers!
