I have given my Neolithic rucksack to my grandson and it will help him to develop a fine physique like what his grandfather has and I bought a brand new Osprey 38l that has no holes, all its straps, and is half the weight of my old one and best of all had £40 knocked off the price! It also smells nice. Where should I walk with it, answers on a postcard please

Happy New Year!
Wrong Nuala we were up there today and there had to be several hundred on DivisHow about the Belfast Hills, after the Christmas/New Year crowds have returned to their sofas? A good place to plan some more exotic walking.
Thats a warm coat that you have there Kirkie
My dearest Wurzel I will be over your way in two weeks, Shirehampton, but I won’t be walking but I have just come down from the mountains overlooking Belfast this morning the first 10k training for this years wee walk from Astorga it was a bit like the walk to Foncebadden and thanks to the National Trust got a cuppa and half a muffin it was 3 degrees and I was thankful to get it Happy new year mateHappy new year to you @rector...long may you keep “working out”! Turn left, then right and left again...all roads lead to Rome!
No stopping at too many refreshment stops on the way now!
If you do...take more water with it!
Kind regards and a happy new year to you
“Wurzel”
Fair point, but I had a heart attack last year/sorry now the year before last and she who is always right feels safer on a trail she knows and truth be known with four stents I don’t want to push it too far myself and anyway I have two weeks this year again as a Chaplain in Santiago@rector, I just took a look at your "past caminos". My postcard opinion is that since you have been on the Frances numerous times, maybe it's time to venture onto a new Camino path with the new rucksack. I loved both the Norte/Primitivo and the Chemin du Puy and highly recommend either.
Happy new year Jenny and if you read my other posts you will see why that is not possible but I would love to do it but you can only do so many things in life there is a limitHi rector - well done for donating your old pack to your grandson and my apologies for the lack of a postcard!
As you now need a stylish camino to walk with that stylish new Osprey, what about the Italian part of the Via Francigena? You'll walk through some very stylish towns and cities and of course, the walking everywhere is absolutely gorgeous.
Happy New Year from Oz -
Jenny
Well, I'm walking the shorter version of Portuguese camino from Porto this spring and I hear it is quite easy and mostly flat if you can handle the granite sets. Get shoes with nice cushy soles and you'll be all "set".Fair point, but I had a heart attack last year/sorry now the year before last and she who is always right feels safer on a trail she knows and truth be known with four stents I don’t want to push it too far myself and anyway I have two weeks this year again as a Chaplain in Santiago

Just to set the story right Chris last year we walked from StJean to Logrono so it is not the actual physical act but rather insecurity that is the problem but thanks for the suggestionWell, I'm walking the shorter version of Portuguese camino from Porto this spring and I hear it is quite easy and mostly flat if you can handle the granite sets. That would be right and by the way we just got our tickets in the Aerlingus sale £200 less than the before Christmas price almost half price!By this day next week, the crowds will hopefully have abated! The Heath Trail is usually much quieter than the others, but it's pretty mucky at this time of year. I really like it, though.
Just noticed your comment about being a chaplain in Santiago last year. I think we may have met you when boarding a flight from Santiago to Dublin last September. Would that be right?
May God help those orangutans I hope I am still at it when I am 80 well doneOn the Camino Frances in 2017, I carried a 64 liter ULA Circuit backpack which, I'm convinced, was field-tested in Borneo by orangutans. The water bottle pouches were difficult to access and my arm sinews are still paying the price a year and a half later. I did not see another pack like mine. The pack brand I saw most often during my 45 day trek was the Osprey. In advance of returning to the CF to celebrate my 80th, I purchased in 2018 the Osprey Kestrel (dragon red color). It's 48 liters—more capacity than I need for the Camino—but it's nice to have the space for all those Santiago souvenirs at journey's end. Good choice, Rector.
