This week, there are some new trains being put into service between Santiago and Madrid. It reduces the travel time to 5h and 35 minutes.

One example:

This makes the train an interesting alternative to the plane in travel to/from Santiago - Madrid.

Buen Camino!

Hi Ivar:
Which station in Madrid should one choose? I will be staying near the airport as my flight the following day leaves at 6am. Any suggestions?

Thanks! And also thanks for this amazing website!!

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
It has been a while since I had to travel from a Madrid train station to the airport, but I believe there is a new local train now from Atocha to the airport. This local train is much faster than the subway.

Buen camino!
Ivar
