Night in St. Jean

Planning Camino del Norte (June 2017)
Hi everyone,
I am leaving for my first Camino on the 5th of June, arriving in Madrid on the morning of the 6th. I am taking a bus from Madrid to Pamplona, and a taxi from Pamplona to St. Jean Pied de Port. This will arrive around midnight most likely, and I was wondering how difficult it would be for myself and 3 friends to get a place to stay that night in St. Jean at that hour. We would be fine staying anywhere really, as long as we can get some sleep that night, but preferably a cheap place like an albergue.
Thanks in advance,
Sean

Welcome Sean!

If you really are "fine staying anywhere . . ." then I would consider staying the night in Pamplona when you get off the bus and then take the taxi to SJPdP the next morning. 10-10:30 pm in Pamplona is a much more reasonable time compared to midnight in SJPdP.

Buen Camino!

Sean, consider that getting to SJPdP is a part of your pilgrimage that you will want to see as you cross the Pyrenees by taxi, the trip takes around an hour and a half, no more than two hours. Our driver last year offered all sorts of interesting and helpful information during the trip. Later I marveled that I had walked that route! Savor each moment and Buen Camino!
