I am in Santa Domingo de la Calzada. I had hoped to post here more often, but for various reasons, haven’t been able to do so.
It has been glorious here in Spain since I began in St Jean several days ago. I’ve heard from some other Pilgrims that the story is circulating about crossing the Pyrenees on May 20. The wind was 70-80k, 55+ mph. At least 5 of us were literally blown off the Camino into the rocks. I was among them. I have a black eye, which is much better now, and a bruise on my right leg from my knee to my hip. While the experience was quite scary, it was my first of so many reminders of the genuine caritas which characterizes the Camino. We helped one another out, made sure everyone was OK, and stayed together until the downward slope when it was no longer so windy.
While there are many pilgrims on the Camino right now, it never feels crowded and I have not heard anyone saying they have difficulty getting accommodations in an Alberque.
For those of you planning to begin the Camino soon, all will be well. Our beloved Camino is waiting for you and God is ever present.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
