Only a week on the Camino - which stage should I walk?

Time of past OR future Camino
Sarria to Santiago 2013
Astorga to Santiago September 14-28 2015
I leave Thursday, Sept 5. I can only leave work for 11 days and anticipate only a week on the Camino.
I don't need to end in Santiago, but want the most beautiful portion. I am considering two options. Starting in Rocesvalles or starting in Sarria.
With only a week, where would you go?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
You leave tomorrow and you don't know which section to do?? LOL, now that's what I call "taking things as they come"!! Where are you flying into?

if it between starting in either of these two towns, then I would pick Sarria. Otherwise I might have suggested some other towns like Leon or Astorga

Yes, I've been reading about the Camino for a year, but just bought my ticket a week ago! Leave early tomorrow morning, flying into Madrid.
I'm trying to buy a train ticket to Sarria, but the Renfe website isn't working right now.
I'm VERY excited!

Though I'm sure there are some who could do it, I would suggest that at over 300km, Leon - Santiago is too far for a week. With that sort of time constraint, I would either start in Sarria or forget about arriving in Santiago and pick any stage that appeals to you. For me that would mean starting in St Jean Pied-de-Port because I love both the town itself and also the walk to Roncesvalles.

I guess I would say start in Sarria and walk to the end. It's epic to end in Santiago since this is where everyone is walking towards. That being said, I think overall my favorite portion was the start from St. Jean Pied de Port to as far as you can go. You will go through Roncesvalles, Pamplona, and possibly be able to make it to Logrono. I found that area endlessly beautiful. Enjoy the walk and realize you can always come back. We did 300km of it and hope to return to do it all soon....
