Pamplona, crowded Centro!

Time of past OR future Camino
(2001) (2018)
Just arrived Pamplona in the old city and near the plaza mayor. The streets everywhere along the Camino are packed solid with people. We added an extra 2km to walk around the city to get to our hotel.
Apparently the St Fermin Festival is in full gear this weekend after being postponed earlier due to weather.
Just warn everyone that it is very difficult to get through the crowds.

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
San Fermin was in July. This could be the "Little San Fermin" celebrating his death maybe? If it were me, I'd hang out and see what happens! It's sure to be exciting. I bet you'll see the Gigantes!

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

I’m just going by what the receptionist told us about the massive crowds downtown. And yes it is exciting with all the bands and firecrackers and all, but it makes it very difficult to follow the Camino through the heart of the city with a fully loaded pack. Better to go around it.
We’re checked in now and will wander over to take in some of the festivities.

You are LUCKY! HOORAY!
Just watch your wallet especially in the tight crowds. Wear your money belt. If the hotel has a safe, consider using it for passport and extra cash. And have FUN!

ah! I walked smack into the "little" San Fermin festival 2 years ago...the energy in the air was palpable! I loved it....

have fun!

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
This highlights something that most pilgrims never consider. Across all of Spain, there are a plethora of varied festivals. Most are religious-related, but not all. The Spanish LOVE festivals and a good party.

They happen at ALL times of the year, but mostly from March through October.

I recommend that all pilgrims consult 'Senor Google' to search for Public Festivals in Spain 2018 (change year as needed). Plan your arrival and departure at any listed site accordingly.

This makes obtaining a place to sleep oh so much easier...

Hope this helps.
