LIVE from the Camino Pilgrim's piano recital in León

Time of past OR future Camino
Me and my wife Joke want to finish the Camino this year (2014) by bicycle.
From today on we (my wife Joke and I) will cycle from Poitiers (France) to SdC. As a professional pianist last year I 'carried' the 'Via Crucis' from Franz Liszt with me. I played it several times in Holland. It is a peace which is a pilgrimage itself, very precious to me.
Now I will play this piece, after cycling for 1200 km, in León. As a kind of Pilgrim's Play. Thursday, July 17, Sala Eutherpe, 20:00. Who wants to come, please do so! Date and place depending on shape of body & bike.

We are on schedule now. Yesterday we reached Dax and today was my piano practice day, in the local music shop.
The date of the 'Pilgrim's play' in León has been confirmed, Thursday July 17, exact time and place will be announced asap. Come, come! Venez nombreux!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
We are still going according to the schedule. Last Saturday we were in Burgos, where I found a fine grand piano to practice for 3 hours. Compared to the 30 hours a week, I use to play, it's nothing, but before all: we're doing the Camino now!
As far as I know now, my concert, call it a Pilgrim's Play, (the Via Crucis from Franz Liszt. Piano solo) will be at 12 h in the Conservatory of León. It is a 45 minutes program. For those who are in town then or on their way: please join!
I will let you know the exact adress asap.

Greetings,

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

I soooooo wish I was going to be there. Very envious of those who will. Beautiful music. Hope you have a Buen Camino and enjoy playing the concert.

Good morning!
This is my final and complete announcement.
Tomorrow, Thursday 17, I will play my piano recital, a so called 'Pilgrim's Play' in the León Conservatory, Calle de Santa Nonia 11. Time: 12 h.
This might be not the time for a pilgrim on his/her way, but for those who stay (or start) in León, it could be a nice event.
I will play the piano solo version of Franz Liszt's 'Via Crucis', the 'Way of the cross'. This piece is in itself a pilgrim's way, as Liszt had in mind the audience should walk from Station to Station (the different parts).
For me this piece marked a change in my musical life: being a pianist, as I was graded first.
I played the piece in Holland several times. It is music wich is based on silence and complentation.
For all those who are in León and have the opportunity: please come!
Duration: 45 minutes appr.

Have a great recital! It is an excellent tribute to the Camino and pilgrims.

Last Thursday I played my recital in the concert hall of the León Conservatory. It has been very special to me to play Liszt on my way to Santiago! During the trip we invited fellow-Camino-goers. There were 6 at the recital. That was enough to me. Local advertisement the last 24 hours brought some 25 people from León.
It became a meeting place after the concert from local people and Camino-goers. This was more then I could dream of!!
