For the majority of forum members, the reference period will not be the past two years as they did not go on Camino in Spain but the year 2019, the last year with a "full camino"
.
I got curious and looked at the exchange rate charts for pound to euro:
8 May 2022: 1.16
8 May 2019: 1.16 (and even lower for the whole pilgrimage season until November 2019)
Seen from this reference point, the exchange rate is no reason for alarm. Inflation is currently high in Spain and a few percentage points higher than in the UK but it is to a large part energy driven, as it is in much of Europe. Prices for pilgrim menus and albergue dormitories do not seem to have gone through the roof, from what I can tell - I followed a recent thread where prices were posted. For most people, two weeks or a month in Spain on Camino will remain to be cheap as far as their expenses in Spain go, I'd guess.
