Resources for Overseas (back to US) Shipping

Time of past OR future Camino

Greetings from Porto!

I have flown with my bicycle from Boston in the US to Lisbon and cycled north on the Camino Portugues. Recently, I have taken the train from Tomar to Porto due to not being able to make the needed miles in the heat (93 deg F high since Lisbon) and am getting ready to head out on the Coastal route. However, my return flight to the US is out of Porto again (couldn't find much directly out of Santiago de Compostela), and when I was booking flights, it looked like there was a train journey (with a connection in Vigo) that I could make with my bike from SdC back down to Porto.

I have just re-checked, to be sure, and it seems that all of the transit options that Google now suggests involve either an ALSA or FlixBus leg from Vigo to Porto. This may be connected to the rail strike also. But, this presents a problem, as I don't see any FlixBus tickets with bike slots available AND I believe ALSA will require the bike to be packed up already (making it a pain to transport, I was hoping to do this in Porto before going to the airport)

So now I am turning to shipping the bike back home overseas to the US from SdC. Has anyone in this community done this before? I am curious what service you used and how much it cost you. I have searched the forum and see a lot of references to Velocipedo, but it seems that they have closed.

Thank you!

I have no idea if they ship bicycles but I shipped my poles from the Mail Boxes Etc across the street from the Santiago bus station and they were very friendly and helpful. If they won’t do it they might be able to point you in the right direction.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

This company has two locations, and one is closer to the center if that matters, on Rua Santiago de Guayaquil. When I was there last fall to buy bubble wrap there were at least 6 bikes that had been boxed up and were being shipped home. The very friendly and helpful staff told me they do this a lot. Not sure about pricing, but I think they’re a good option.
