I thought I'd take a look to see what the calendar looked like. All I can say is WOW. Either the forum is getting immensely popular or September is going to be extremely busy. Or both. Walking the Norte this summer, I met a total of one other pilgrim from Irun to Santiago who was a forum member. Looks like if I were to start at SJPP on Sept. 1, I would be enjoying the company of 7 other forum members. That is quite a difference!

Buen camino to everyone, looking forward to hearing back from those on the trail this autumn! Laurie

Hi
Hi - I'm Susan from Atlanta. I'll be starting in SJPdP on Sept. 8th. I'm also having a birthday while on the Camino - Oct. 17th. Looks like there will be a lot of birthday winedrinking on the Camino!
Hi - Tricia from New Zealand . I too will start from SJPDP on Sept 8th if I can get there from Biarritz the night before . The last train leaves an hour after flight arrival according to the internet ! Hope to meet you.

Probably both! In mid-September last year I started walking from St Jean to Santiago. The train from Bayonne was packed well beyond capacity and 15 of us were taken off by SNCF and sent to St Jean by taxi. That night every albergue bed in town was filled and private rooms were very scarce too. I met several forum members along the way.

Hello,

I'll be flying to SJPP on 26th September and will start the walk on the 27th. From the UK
This is my first Camino!
Good on you Danielle, you are NOT going to be alone, this is what I see on forum members departing from St Jean on September 27th:

-- Danielle92
-- Norman Stephens
-- Sailor
-- bearwithme

Team Sailor [my wife and me] will stop in Orisson for the night. IF you see a couple walking slowly, and practicing their Spanish, that's our team. Good luck and que la luz de Dios alumbre su camino.

Hello path-mates,
I am getting giddy with my departure date coming closer and closer! I keep waking up in the middle of the night, thinking about DEET, SIM cards and ATM passwords. The early pilgrims didn't have such worries/luxuries.

I just updated the list today, so please check and be sure your info. is there and correct. Post a response if I need to add you or update/correct your info. Thanks.

Cheers and Happy Trails!
Jill

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Going to Madrid on sept. 4, staying with a Camino friend, and taking a train on 5-6 sept. to Pamplona and start walking. Do not care too much about it. And no return ticket. I finish when I finish.

I'll either be walking from Pamplona or Burgos around 1 October; I may also be walking Camino Porto Coastal route. Not sure yet, but I'm not worried in the least! October SJPP to SdC two years ago was delightful, and I'm happy to be going this time of the year again!

I purchased a few very inexpensive merino wool t shirts off of Ebay--Icebreaker "gently used" might I add--so much less expensive buying them with a few miles on them. My trusty 32 L pack and all my stuff is good. No need to purchase a single thing.

Looking forward!

Susan and Curt from Montana leaving SJPP on Sept 23.

Hi. I'm Gail G (New York, USA) starting Sept 16, at Sarria. First Camino. So excited!

My start date is Oct 1, starting in Sarria, 1st Camino. I'm 69 and from North Carolina, my sister is 71 and from Georgia. We are both excited/apprehensive.

Hi Nancy. I'm starting 9/16 out of Sarria and I'm of your vintage! My first Camino, so I will check in with you afterwards if I have any words of wisdom. Buen Camino

Thank you! I'm certain I'll see you on the trail and we can practice basic Spanish with each other. So far, I've mastered 'Yo no como pescado' - so I'm basically fluent

Ha! Yo no como pulpo [actually, no shellfish for me]! For reference, you can identify Team Sailor [my wife and me] by our backpacks [my Osprey Stratus is black, my wife's Osprey Sirrus is grey], and I have a forum patch. We will be the team walking at snail pace, arriving last at every town. Good luck, y que la luz de Dios alumbre su camino.

Hola! My husband and I (Bob and Kaaren ) will be starting our first Camino from SJPdP on the 13th of September. We call Washington State, USA our home. We fly into Paris on the 10th, stay in Bayonne, France that night. Then on to SJPdP where we will stay two nights at Beilari hostel. Then on to Orisson. My husband is a strong hiker...a locomotive. I am a slow large turtle...una tortuga grande y muy lenta.
After Orisson, we have no plans...not even plane tickets home! Let the Camino adventures begin! Looking forward to meeting you!
