Dear camino friends,
I will walk on the Camino del Norte from September 15 to October 5. Do you think I will need a sleeping bag in the albergues? I was planning on travelling with my sleeping bag liner only, but I am not sure if there are blankets in all albuergues. What is your experience on the Camino del Norte? I will start in Irún and am planning on staying both in private and official albuergues.
Many thanks!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Begin with the question, am I a warm or cool sleeper. Do you normally like a fair bit of covers and blankets? Or are you the person who tosses them off and sleeps with just the sheet as a cover? And this can change over time, especially for us gals!! I used to wear flannel with down comforters etc...Not so much these days! ;-) Check the "average" temps for when your traveling and compare how you sleep at home in those temps. Personally I still carry a full sleeping bag, making sure, for myself!, that it can open at the bottom to put my feet out to stay cool enough to sleep!! But my hubs is happy with a fleece bag, when he comes along. Many alburgues have blankets and if you combine a sleep sack liner with that you might be just fine. This is one of those pretty personal issues, a bit like boots vs shoes vs trail runners!! What is perfect for one could be horrible for another!!

I know...fat lot of good right!? Happy planning! And remember there will be places like Decathlon in the major cities along the way where you can always change your gear plan!!

I always carry a (light) sleping bag, even in high Summer because.... I feel the cold! It really depends what you are like....

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.
