Surprise map find.

Time of past OR future Camino
Future (2018)
With just 10 days to go before heading off to SJPP, I was browsing the rather random map section of a charity book store in my home town looking for a big map of Spain to mark my journey on. Just out of interest because I haven’t looked properly to see where all these places are that I hope to visit. There wasn’t a single map of the country, but there was two regional maps. Nothing else, just these two. One is headed up La Rioja and the other, Burgos. They were printed in the mid 1990s and were originally purchased from Stanford’s, a specialist map store in London. Upon opening them, I saw the Camino Frances route was highlighted. That’s quite a coincidence and I quickly acquired them for my collection. Together they weigh 147g. I know I don’t need them but I think I’m going to slip them into my bag. I wonder who used them. I wonder if they are still with us.

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
There is nothing quite like unfolding a paper map.

A couple of years ago I picked up the 1951/52 edition of the Michelin map 38 Spain and Portugal from Coimbra in the west to Valencia in the East.

3s 6d - a lot of money in those days! But it's quite nice to see that, once unfolded, there's only 80cms of map from SJPP to SdC.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
While I was walking 3 years ago, my then-kinda-new sweetie put a big map of Spain on his bedroom wall so he could see what town or village I had reached each day, which I reported by text message that arrived while he was sleeping. He left the big map there on the wall for the next couple of years. Seeing it made me feel so good!

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

That's really nice!
